  Baker Atyani is a veteran journalist from the Middle East who has covered conflict zones across Asia for the past 20 years. He was the first journalist to reveal the news of Pakistan’s nuclear test in 1998 and the last journalist to interview Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks. He has interviewed the leaders of Jama’a Islamia in Indonesia, the former leader of the Iranian militant group Jundullah, and other militant groups such as the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in the Philippines.

He was honoured by the United Nations in 2013 for his personal contributions, received the Courage in Journalism award from the MBC Group and, in 2014, the Exceptional Courage in Journalism award from the Mai Chadiac Foundation (MCF).
